For 18 years, Kelly has managed the marketing, communications and business development functions for professional service firms in accounting, law, private equity, investment banking, and financial services and wealth management. Her interest in new media and marketing techniques extends to the opportunities professional service firms can find using video and social media to communicate expertise and extend referral source networks. She currently advises professional service firms around the country and is now accepting up to five new clients for custom strategic marketing plan creation.

In her work with a mid-size regional accounting firm, Kelly developed and launched their business development practice and brought discipline and ROI insight to previously ad-hoc activities. She created and led the partners and the staff in training seminars focused on new client acquisition, client service and cross-selling, client retention strategies, and practical networking etiquette.   She also handles all marketing for the firm, following a strategic planning process that she leads the partners on each fall. She managed a firm-wide rebranding three yeas ago that included a new firm website, collateral, and ad campaign, which she concepted and copywrote. She creates and manages all the firm’s content, including the firm’s long-running blog and advertorials for industry publications.

Her work with law firms has included development of firm-wide business development and practice-specific marketing plans, online reputation management and video series production. She understands the complexities of communicating within the boundaries of a highly regulated environment and is comfortable engaging with partners and sophisticated clients with professionalism and poise.

Before forming her marketing consulting firm O’Donnell Integrated Marketing Communications, she was the director of marketing and communications for Michigan’s largest venture capital firm, where she managed the global marketing function and assisted in fundraising and investor relations for several limited partnership funds and ghostwrote many thought investment banking leadership papers and created client-facing events.

Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in marketing and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University.   She’s a member of the Association for Accounting Marketing, Legal Marketing Association, and the National Venture Capital Association’s Strategic Communicators Group.
